Well, that was an irritating game….
I was working during the game and listening over the radio. Hearing Bundy strikeout the first three batters he faced gave me a really uneasy feeling on how the rest of the game would go.
Happ pitched a pretty great game. He have up 2 HRs for a total of 3 runs but he didn’t walk anyone, struck out nine and really gave up only 5 hits. He also went pretty deep in the game and was at 89 pitches by the end of the 7th which was was great to see.
After Pillar’s weird defensive game on Monday, he was back to form showing the CF wall (and his body) no mercy.
Really the irritating part of this game was the offense who just seemed unable to string enough hits to get a run across. In the 3rd a single by Travis did score Smoak from second, but that would be the only Jays run of the game.
In the 9th inning there was a small ray of hope when against Zach Britton the Jays had bases loaded with one out for Steve Pearce. After a pretty lengthy and good at bat by Pearce he grounded in a double play to end the game.
Yeah… I just want a win. Is that too much to ask for?
Unfortunately they Jays will be heading to the hell hole that is Tropicana Field tonight for a four game series against the Rays. Rays games are never fun but let’s hope this narrative doesn’t hold up for this series.
